The 2017 VMSMA Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, May 20th at the West Monitor Barn in Richmond, VT. The historic barn along Route 2, and visible from I-89 along with its twin, the East Monitor Barn, was renovated in the late 1990s and is now managed by the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps.

We’re hoping that the 2017 annual meeting will offer the chance for discussion about the focus and future of VMSMA as well as an opportunity to learn more about the ways in which VMSMA works with partner organizations in Vermont and beyond.

  • Steve Voigt, former CEO of King Arthur Flour, will talk about modern marketing strategies for real food. The lessons learned as King Arthur Flour grew among a marketplace with major brands like Pillsbury and Gold Medal and competition from store-brand varieties are applicable to Vermont Maple as we envision strategies for promoting our products.
  • We will also feature a panel of presenters from the many groups we partner with regularly: the Proctor Maple Research Center, UVM Extension, Audubon Vermont’s Bird-Friendly Maple Habitat program, and the International Maple Syrup Institute. These presenters all bring a unique perspective on the forces that affect our industry and their role in working with producers.
  • To follow, we will have a discussion on future activities of VMSMA.

We want your feedback and input, so please consider attending the 2017 VMSMA Annual Meeting!
