48th Annual Vermont Maple Festival @ St. Albans, VT

During the Maple Festival, visitors flock from throughout the United States, as well as other countries, to downtown St. Albans for maple treats, maple learning, and maple fun at the end of The Maple Season in Vermont.

Much of the event is without cost and handicapped accessible. Strolling of the Heifers Maple ‘n’ Mud Fest @ River Garden

Come celebrate the changing seasons with Maple Producers and Regional Farmers! This is a community event, free and open to the public at the Stroll’s new home – the River Garden, 157 Main Street, Brattleboro.

  • The grades of maple syrup are being renamed to provide the general public with a little more clarity on what each grade is best suited. The new names are based on their color so come SEE, and then taste the differences thanks to Hidden Springs Maple!
  • Bascom Family Farms will be providing a rich history of maple sugaring in the area with artifacts from the late 1890′s and early 1900′s.
  • Then talk to your modern maple producers like Robb Family Farm or Harlow’s Sugar House to get a feel for how things have changed!
  • Your Brattleboro CO-OP will be demonstrating how to use maple as an everyday ingredient in your pantry.
  • Check out locally made products that use maple as a sweetener:Coddle & Cosset Truffles, True North Granola, O So Fine Gluten Free. Wash it all down with a pickle from Randy atMountain Mowing Farm!
  • What kind of a Maple Fest would be complete without pancakes?Green Mountain Flour will be on hand to make that a reality!
  • Don’t have a big sweet tooth? Varee’s Thai Kitchen can cook up your Saturday lunch while listening to local musicians Bada Raga – Classical Indian Music with a Vermont Twist! Later in the day we will be joined by Franz Robert and Friends playing experimental jazz!
  • Stop by the table of Brattleboro Time Trade – we know you have been thinking about it, now is a great time to get those questions answered
  • Over 21? Whistle Pig Whiskey, a Vermont local spirits producer will be showcasing their products – enjoy responsibly 🙂

65 Camper sites will be available at the Field days with water hook ups. Econo Lodge has set aside some rooms until May 1st 2014. The LaQuinta is a hotel located close also. There are some great B&B in the county also.

Boyden Valley Sugar on SnowCambridge, Vermont – Boyden Valley Winery & Spirits is hosting their annual Maple Sugar Festival during Maple Open House Weekend, Saturday & Sunday, March 28th and 29th, 2015, to celebrate the sugaring season.

The Boyden family has been making Vermont maple syrup for five generations in the picturesque Lamoille River valley using a traditional wood-fired evaporator with sap collected from over 300 acres of maple trees located on the family’s farm.  The sugar house is conveniently located behind the winery for easy access to anyone that is interested in viewing the sugaring process.

Boyden Valley Winery & Spirits crafts over 20 different wines, ciders, and spirits including two unique wines and a cream liqueur using their estate maple syrup.  The Annual Maple Sugar Festival is an ideal time to visit the winery to sample these local Vermont delicacies and learn about one of Vermont’s oldest and most loved traditions – Maple Sugaring!

Locals and visitors of all ages are encouraged to stop by Boyden Valley Winery & Spirits from 10am-5pm during the Maple Sugar Festival weekend to enjoy the activities and experience all things maple including:

Franklin County Maple School @ Franklin County Field Days

Registration will start at 8:00am and classes will begin at 9:00am.  The cost for the day is $35 per person, which includes access to the trade show, classes/seminars, and a catered lunch.  If you are a dues paying member of the Franklin County Maple Sugarmakers Association the cost for the day is $25.  (Dues are collected at annual Meeting in January)  If you would like to become a dues paying member ask at our registration table.

28th Annual Maple Festival of the Middletown Springs Historical Society

Historical Society Maple Festival Blends Old and New

Remarkable  silent auction offers for vacation rentals, donations from local artists and craftspersons, merchants and professionals highlight the 28th Annual Maple Festival of the Middletown Springs Historical Society on Sunday, March 20 from 1-4 pm.

The event will feature a demonstration of early maple sugarmaking in a cast iron kettle over an open fire. Local sugarmaker Ryan Mahar and historians David Wright and Jon Mathewson will give a presentation on maple sugaring history and current practice using examples from the Historical Society collection.

Delicious maple desserts created by Society members, Vermont maple products and new 2016 syrup will be available for sale. Old-fashioned sugar on snow and maple cotton candy are always favorites.

Acoustic music and kids’ activities enliven the free afternoon event. Videos about Vermont maple sugaring will be shown continuously.

Silent auction opportunities include stays at vacation condominiums or B&Bs in Williamsburg, Va., Charleston, S.C. and Middletown Springs; lessons in horseback riding, oil painting, poetry and memoir writing; offers for genealogical, natural science and historic architecture research; as well as fine craft items and donations from area businesses. A well-known area artist is offering a life-like oil portrait of your pet. You can also bid on a ride in a Model A Ford to a Historic Register-listed Italianate museum-mansion for a tour and a delicious tea.

A raffle with over 50 prizes including $100.00 and $50.00 in cash, maple syrup and maple products, craft items, and gift certificates from local businesses will go on continuously during the festival.

Museum exhibits on Middletown Springs history are on view during the festival. Admission is free and handicap accessible.

Mad River Valley Maple Festival @ Hartshorn Farm and Maple Sugar House

The festival runs from 11am-4pm each day. On the tours, you will learn about how maple syrup originated and what the steps are from tapping trees to the finished product-syrup. Find out what all of those machines in the sugar house do. Compare the taste of sap to syrup.

All kinds of maple goodies will be available for purchase:

  • maple candy and cream
  • maple milk shakes
  • maple cotton candy
  • maple drizzled ice cream
  • maple creemees
  • maple beer and cocktail samples (Lawson’s and Mad River Distillers)
  • maple pizza made by American Flatbread in their oven
  • maple breads/muffins from our pizza oven
  • maple kissed immune boosting fire cider
  • even home made maple soap

Until then, you can come in and watch them boil sap into syrup. Have a taste and purchase your own bottle of warm syrup. Just look for the steam at the roof and the banner announcing that they are open.

Visit Vermont sugarhouses and restaurants across the state and watch as maple syrup is being made. Join our family tradition and be a part of all the fun!

Maple Open House Weekend offers visitors an opportunity to see a variety of sugarhouses throughout Vermont in operation during sugaring season. This is the most exciting time of year for our sugarmakers and they are thrilled to open their doors and educate everyone on all things maple. Have you ever wondered how the sap from the trees gets to the sugarhouse and becomes the maple syrup you love? Do you know why maple is more nutrient dense than alternative sweeteners? Do you love maple and want to know how to incorporate it in more of your favorite recipes? Here is your opportunity to have all your questions answered by genuine Vermont sugarmakers. We encourage visitors to see as many sugarhouses as you can plan on your visit. They each offer a unique experience. Some of the planned activities for the weekend include:
