Fourth of July Cookout Recipes Using Vermont Maple
Planning a Fourth of July cookout or need ideas for a dish to bring? We’ve got you covered with some new twists on old favorites, all featuring the best sweetener in nature: pure Vermont maple syrup (and maple sugar!).
Burgers are always a favorite and while we love the flavor of ground local beef, this Spicy Maple Turkey Burger includes maple syrup, spicy sriracha, and is topped with maple-pickled red onions. It’s a little hot, a little sweet, and a nice variety from the usual burger.
Maple Slaw with Grilled Pineapple is an update on a classic cookout side dish and this sweet-and-sour vinegar slaw gets a unique twist with pure Vermont maple sugar (maple syrup will work just fine too) and grilled pineapple. It’s easy to make ahead and just before you get ready to put the burgers on the grill, cook the pineapple until it starts to caramelize, chop, and add to the slaw!
Our Strawberry Shortcake Maple Blondies are a fresh, not-too-sweet dessert that takes a blond brownie base and tops it with in-season strawberries. We use both fresh, chopped strawberries and cook additional strawberries down with maple syrup to create a chunky, jam-like topping. For a variation, try it with blueberries or other seasonal fruit.
Looking for a unique beverage for a summer party? How about our Maple Bourbon Cold Brewed Iced Coffee? Make your cold-brew coffee the night before and let it sit overnight in the refrigerator. Add maple syrup, bourbon, and cream for a delicious summer brunch or afternoon treat.
