History & traditions running deeper than the roots of a Maple

The origins of maple syrup and its discovery predate modern history, though we know it can be credited to the indigenous peoples living in North America long before European settlers arrived.

There is popular folklore and legends surrounding it, including the story of "Woksis and Moqua" written by author, Rowland E. Robinson. While its origin stories are best left to be told by the cultures responsible for its discovery, we do know that the basic elements of sugar making have remained the same for centuries—the trees, the seasons, the tapping, the required cooking process—are, to this day, still the foundation for crafting our favorite treat from nature.
