Current Maple Market and Policy Research

This webinar will share an update on two long term and multi-stage research projects looking at maple markets and  economics. Half of this session will share results from consumer demand surveys and compare findings from Vermont to preliminary analysis from surveys in California and Texas. The second portion of the session will share results from the 2025 US Maple Producer survey, which explores profitability and  producers' interest in a national promotion program, state programs or other forms of market development.

Featured Presenter: Mark Cannella

Mark Cannella is a Professor and Farm Business Management Specialist with the University of Vermont Extension. He currently directs UVM Extension Agricultural Business programs with a focus on the management and delivery of farm and forest business planning programs, financial analysis and applied business research. Mark works directly on maple economics projects throughout the Northeastern United States and leads a national maple business education initiative. He works at the intersection of working lands business viability and stakeholder issues, developing research or training programs to support sustainable outcomes.
