Open Sugarhouse Certification Event

Curious about VMSMA's Sugarhouse Food Safety Certification Program?  Come find out what this voluntary program is all about at our next Open Certification Event in southern Vermont, hosted by Smith Family Maple in Cambridgeport.  This free event is open to anyone curious about our Certification Program, which was created by Vermont sugar makers and interprets current food safety regulations for maple operations.  While participation in the program is voluntary, following food safety regulations is required for all sugarmakers. Join VMSMA's certifier, Allen Freund, as he takes us through a real on-site inspection and walk through of the Smith Family's sugarhouse.  Hear what he's looking for, how we work to help sugarmakers understand and meet food safety regs, and most importantly--get your questions answered by Allen, Ellie--VMSMA's Maple Food Safety Manager, and Allison--VMSMA's Executive Director.  Smith Family Maple is a wood-fired operation with 1,100 tap that utilizes an RO and filter press.  If you have any questions ahead of the event please contact Ellie at ellie@vermontmaple.org, (802) 222-6071.
